LORETO'S SANCTUARY IS CANDIDATE AS UNESCO UNIVERSAL PATRIMONY
The #Marche Region approved the Proposal of the Pontifical Delegation to insert #Loreto's Sanctuary in the list of candidates as #Unesco Universal Patrimony. In fact Loreto encloses a unique and original architectural compound of Basilica-Fortress, the first one in Italy and in the world, so as to become a reference for other Sanctuary towns in Italy and Europe. The tradition of Loreto's iconography comprises 356 reproductions of the Holy House in the world and 4475 places in the world that celebrate the Virgin of Loreto, also Aviation Patroness, and the evidence connected to such a worship. Besides, unlike many other sanctuaries that have undergone various changes over the centuries, Loreto's Basilica is featured by originality and absolute authenticity and keeps in its structure works by Bramante, Baccio Pontelli, Giuliano from Maiano, Francesco di Giorgio Martini, Andrea Sansovino and Antonio da Sangallo il Giovane.
